The Oyo State Police Command has arrested tw suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, at Layeri Village near Ikoyi-Ile in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the command, the incident was reported by a member of the community at about 5:50 p.m. on September 24.
Police said preliminary investigations showed that Peter was abducted at about 4:20 a.m. the same day after three-armed men allegedly invaded a family compound in the community.
The attackers reportedly forced their way into the victim’s room and abducted him before escaping through the National Reserve Forest.
Police said the assailants also took away a Hajue motorcycle and the victim’s mobile phone during the attack.
Following investigations into the incident, operatives arrested two suspects identified as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali.
The allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation and have not been established by a court.
According to the police, information obtained during the investigation has assisted operatives in identifying and tracking other suspected members of the group.
The command said efforts were continuing to rescue Peter and apprehend other suspects believed to be involved in the abduction.
Police also said they were collaborating with other security agencies to strengthen search and rescue operations.
The command assured residents of Layeri Village and surrounding communities that security agencies were working to secure the area and rescue the victim.
It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations and operations.
