One construction worker has been injured following the partial collapse of a five-storey building on Durban Street, Wuse II, Abuja.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, explaining that it received an emergency alert at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17.

According to the agency, preliminary findings revealed that the incident involved a building under construction that had been partially pulled down.

NEMA immediately mobilised emergency responders, including the FCT Fire Service and its AYA Emergency Response Ambulance Bay team, to the scene.

The agency confirmed that no lives were lost, while the injured worker was evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The incident follows previous building collapses in Abuja, including a three-storey structure in Wuse in September and another in Durumi in May, which claimed at least five lives.

The recurring incidents have renewed concerns about construction safety and compliance with building regulations in the Federal Capital Territory.
