Search and rescue operations are continuing in Trishuli, Nuwakot, one of the worst-hit areas following devastating floods in Nepal that have killed more than 1,200 people and left thousands missing.
Emergency teams are working through heavily damaged communities, using equipment and specialised rescue methods to search for survivors and recover victims after the disaster swept through parts of Nepal’s Himalayan region.
The floods, triggered by a combination of glacial collapse and landslides in the Himalayan region, caused widespread destruction along the Trishuli River corridor, destroying homes, infrastructure and several hydropower facilities.
In Nuwakot and surrounding areas, families continue to wait for information about missing relatives as rescue workers search through mud, debris and damaged structures.
Authorities have reported that thousands of people remain unaccounted for, while rescue operations have been expanded with assistance from international teams.
The disaster has been described as one of Nepal’s most severe natural catastrophes in recent years, with the scale of damage still being assessed as recovery efforts continue.
