The Director-General of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its enduring contributions to national growth and youth development over the past 53 years.

He highlighted the Scheme’s impact in areas such as youth empowerment, mentorship, rural development, healthcare delivery, education, and employment generation.

Ali also acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of both former and serving Corps Members deployed to NAN, describing their service as invaluable to the organisation.

The NAN boss further commended the leadership of the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, noting that the Scheme has continued to record progress under his administration.

He made these remarks while receiving the NYSC Director-General during a courtesy visit at the NAN Headquarters in Abuja.

Ali stressed the importance of developmental journalism in promoting national progress, adding that NAN remained committed to projecting African narratives, particularly Nigerian stories, to the international community.

Speaking earlier, Brigadier General Nafiu expressed appreciation to NAN for what he described as balanced and objective coverage of NYSC activities over the years.

He assured that the partnership between both organisations would continue to deepen for mutual benefit and national development.

Nafiu also reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC to strengthening its achievements through innovative programmes aimed at increasing its contributions to the country’s development.
