Several passengers are feared dead following a reported attack by suspected armed bandits on a vehicle travelling from Sokoto city towards Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The incident reportedly occurred when armed men intercepted the vehicle along the route and opened fire on its occupants.
Although initial reports suggested that all passengers aboard the vehicle were killed, the exact number of casualties and the identities of the victims had not been independently established as of the time of this report.

The incident was disclosed by Bakatsine, a conflict reporter who monitors insecurity and armed attacks across Nigeria’s North-West region.
According to information attributed to the journalist, the passengers were returning from Sokoto city when they encountered the armed attackers.
Bakatsine reportedly shared photographs believed to show some of the victims, raising fresh concerns about the safety of travellers using major roads in the state.
Reports also suggested that some of those affected might have been among approximately 3,000 individuals recruited by the Sokoto State Government and invited to the state capital for screening and collection of official documents.
However, the reported connection between the victims and the recruitment exercise has not been independently confirmed.
The circumstances surrounding the attack, including the exact location, number of passengers aboard the vehicle and possible identities of the attackers, remain unclear.
As of publication, the Sokoto State Police Command and other relevant security authorities had not issued an official statement confirming the reported incident or providing a verified casualty figure.

The development has heightened concerns about persistent attacks on travellers and rural communities across Sokoto State.
Several parts of the state have experienced incidents involving armed groups, including attacks on communities, highway robberies and abductions.
Earlier in October, security authorities confirmed separate incidents involving suspected bandits in parts of the state, underscoring the challenges confronting residents and road users.
The latest report has renewed concerns over the need for improved surveillance, security patrols and rapid emergency responses along vulnerable transportation routes.
Further information from security agencies will be necessary to establish the full circumstances of the reported attack, verify the number of victims and determine whether any passengers survived.
