Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has urged Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu more time to address the country’s challenges, arguing that many of the problems confronting Nigeria predated the current administration.

Anuku made the remarks during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he said Nigerians should exercise patience while the administration implements its policies.

The actor argued that Tinubu inherited longstanding national problems and should not be held solely responsible for the country’s current difficulties.

Anuku also expressed support for Tinubu serving his full constitutional tenure, while maintaining that replacing a sitting president would not necessarily guarantee better leadership.

He dismissed suggestions that he had been paid to publicly support the president, insisting that his comments reflected his personal position.

His remarks come as political debate intensifies ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, cost-of-living pressures and governance record expected to remain major issues in public discourse.

Beyond politics, Anuku spoke about difficult periods in his personal life, including the death of the mother of his children.

The actor said the loss affected him deeply and contributed to a period of depression and withdrawal, adding that his faith later helped him regain a sense of peace and purpose.

Anuku also addressed previous social media speculation about his well-being, rejecting claims made about his mental health and saying that viral videos and the narratives surrounding them had damaged his reputation and affected his career.

The veteran actor has previously spoken publicly about the impact of losing his partner and the difficulties he experienced afterwards.
