Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and improved service delivery after emerging as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

Governor Eno secured the party’s nomination during the APC governorship primary held at Government Primary School, Ikot Akpabin, in Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, the governor described the overwhelming support from party members as a renewed call to greater service, assuring that he would redouble efforts in delivering the dividends of democracy to the Akwa Ibom people.

According to him, his administration would review the implementation of the ARISE Agenda to identify existing gaps and strengthen development efforts across the state.

He disclosed that plans were underway for the introduction of “ARISE Agenda 2.0” as part of efforts to deepen governance reforms and accelerate development.

Governor Eno expressed gratitude to God and the people of Akwa Ibom State, noting that it was the first time in the state’s political history that a party would produce a sole governorship candidate during its primary process.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and members of the National Assembly for what he described as reforms that enhanced transparency in party primaries.

“What you have done today is indeed a clear message for me to work some more, and I understand the message perfectly,” the governor said.

“I stand here to assure you that by the grace of God, I will continue to put in my best in the service of Akwa Ibom State.”

Governor Eno further pledged the support of the Akwa Ibom people for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying it would enable the President to consolidate on his developmental programmes.

He equally appreciated Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his support and assured him of continued political backing from the state.

The governor called on other political parties to emulate the APC by conducting transparent and peaceful primaries, while urging political actors to focus on issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.

He warned against campaigns of calumny capable of heating up the political atmosphere in the state and the country.
