The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Chief Sunday Inyima, has dismissed allegations that the killing of his younger brother, Egeonu Inyima, was politically motivated, calling for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.
The development comes amid reports that police have arrested suspects in connection with the killing, which occurred in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Egeonu was reportedly lured to a primary school in Umuogudu-Oshia Ngbo, where he was allegedly attacked and beaten to death by suspected assailants.
The circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation.

Speaking while receiving members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ohaukwu Local Government Area, who visited his country home in Izhiangbo to commiserate with his family, Inyima cautioned against linking the incident to political disagreements without credible evidence.
The commissioner described suggestions of a political motive as misleading and capable of creating unnecessary tension within the community.
He maintained that his late brother had not been involved in any political dispute that would justify such speculation.
Despite expressing deep grief over the killing, Inyima insisted that justice must be pursued without implicating innocent individuals.
He appealed to security agencies to conduct a transparent investigation and ensure that everyone connected to the incident was identified through credible evidence.
The commissioner also warned against interference by influential individuals, political figures or other interested parties who might attempt to influence the investigation.
According to him, nobody should be shielded from accountability because of their position, just as no innocent person should be punished for an offence they did not commit.

Inyima further urged members of the public to avoid circulating unverified information about the killing, warning that speculation could complicate investigations and heighten tensions.
He expressed confidence that a proper investigation would establish the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death and provide a basis for prosecuting anyone found responsible.
The reported arrests represent a development in the investigation, although the identities and number of suspects taken into custody have not been publicly established in the available accounts.
The commissioner reiterated his family’s desire for justice while appealing for restraint and respect for due process.
He maintained that the investigation must be allowed to proceed independently, without political interference or attempts to influence its outcome.
The motive for the killing has not been established, and any arrested individuals remain suspects unless their involvement is proven in court.
