Bandits have reportedly invaded Aujarawar Alkali community in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting the village head, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata.
The traditional ruler was said to have been taken away by the armed attackers during a night raid on Thursday, September 17, throwing residents into fear and uncertainty.
According to information circulating following the incident, the bandits stormed the community heavily armed and succeeded in gaining access to the area before abducting the village head.
The circumstances surrounding how the attackers entered the community and reached the residence of the traditional ruler without being intercepted remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The abduction has heightened concerns among residents, particularly over the safety of community leaders and other residents who may be vulnerable to attacks by criminal groups operating in parts of the state.
Residents are said to be appealing for prayers for the safe return of Ahmad while also calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the traditional ruler and secure his release.
The development comes amid continuing security concerns in parts of northern Nigeria, where rural communities have faced attacks, kidnappings and other forms of criminality.
For residents of Aujarawar Alkali, the immediate concern remains the safe return of their traditional ruler, with calls mounting for authorities to urgently strengthen security around the community and prevent further attacks.
As of the time of this report, there was no official statement from the Kano State Police Command or other security agencies confirming the abduction or providing details of ongoing efforts to rescue the village head.
