The Arewa Think Tank has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to allow recent allegations involving his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to influence decisions concerning members of his administration.

Addressing journalists in Kaduna, the group’s Convener, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, described the controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) as politically motivated and urged Nigerians to rely on verified information.

Yakubu said prominent allies of the President are often subjected to allegations whenever they are perceived to be assuming greater national responsibilities.

He cited previous controversies involving former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, during discussions about his possible role in preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He urged President Tinubu to remain focused on governance and not be distracted by political controversies, stressing that capable individuals should not be denied the opportunity to serve based on unverified claims.

The group also welcomed the Presidency’s clarification that the PFIPC is not a recognised government agency. It noted that Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had stated that Gbajabiamila neither authorises appointments nor issues official correspondence on behalf of the alleged body.

Yakubu said the Presidency’s clarification should address public concerns and urged Nigerians to rely on official information rather than speculation capable of distracting the government.

He further appealed to political actors to act responsibly and avoid actions that could undermine public confidence in democratic institutions.
