Questions have continued to trail the death of soprano singer Ifunanya Nwangele, who reportedly died following a snake bite incident in Abuja, with her family alleging gaps in emergency medical response.
According to a statement shared by her brother on social media, Ifunanya was bitten by a snake at her residence on January 31, drove herself to two different medical facilities for treatment. He stated that she remained conscious and communicative throughout the ordeal until shortly before she collapsed at the Federal Medical Centre FMC Abuja.
The family’s account suggests that her condition deteriorated rapidly after her arrival at the hospital, raising concerns about the timeliness of care and the availability of life saving anti venom treatment.
Her death has sparked public concern, particularly around emergency preparedness and response to snake bite cases in urban centres.
