Nigerian music star, Davido has lost out in the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, with South African singer Tyla emerging winner.

Tyla clinched the award with her hit single “Push 2 Start,” edging out strong contenders including Nigeria’s Burna Boy (“Love”), Ayra Starr and Wizkid (“Gimme Dat”), Davido (“With You” featuring Omah Lay), as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin (“Hope & Love”).

The category, introduced to spotlight and celebrate African music on the global stage, once again reflected Nigeria’s strong influence, with three Nigerian artists making the final shortlist.

Despite missing out on the award, Davido’s nomination further underscores his continued relevance and impact in the global music scene, as African artists maintain a growing presence at the Grammys.
