Akwa Ibom State Government has announced that the January 2026 Statewide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise will hold without restriction of movement.
According to a public notice issued on January 27, 2026, the sanitation exercise is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, between 7am and 10am.
The government explained that the decision to allow free movement during the exercise is a special consideration, given the ongoing recruitment interviews into the Akwa Ibom State Public Service.
Despite the absence of movement restriction, community leaders have been urged to mobilize residents in their respective areas to actively participate in the exercise, in order to sustain the state’s reputation as Nigeria’s cleanest state.
It also encourages residents to clean their surroundings, ensure proper environmental hygiene during the stipulated hours.
