The Ogun State chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to Governor Dapo Abiodun, demanding the full implementation of local government autonomy.
The Union warned that failure to comply would result in an indefinite strike, highlighting state interference in local government affairs and chronic underfunding as major concerns.
NULGE emphasized that the state government’s continued control over local councils undermines constitutional provisions designed to grant councils financial and administrative independence.
The Union has called on Governor Abiodun to act swiftly within the 14-day period to prevent disruption of essential services across the state.
