The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arraigned 11 suspects in connection with the killing of ARISE TV reporter Somto Maduagwu and her security guard, Barnabas Danlami.
The incident occurred during a robbery attack at Unique Apartments in the Katampe Extension area of Mabushi, Abuja, on September 29, 2025.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the suspects are facing multiple charges, including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and homicide.
According to the police, the suspects were brought before the court where the case was formally mentioned, and the matter has been adjourned until February 2026 for further hearing and continuation of legal proceedings.
The police assured that investigations were thoroughly conducted before filing charges, reiterated their commitment towards ensuring that justice is served.
The tragic incident has renewed public concern over the safety of journalists and private security personnel, especially those working in high risk environments.
Authorities have called for calm as the judicial process continues, stressing that the suspects will be allowed fair trial in accordance with the law.
