Russia’s former President, Dmitry Medvedev has taunted US President, Donald Trump, urging him to hasten efforts to “capture” Greenland or risk the island siding with Russia.
Medvedev suggested that a referendum could allow Greenland’s 55,000 residents to vote in favour of joining Russia, escalating tensions between the world powers.
The comments add a provocative twist to longstanding discussions over Greenland’s strategic importance in the Arctic region.
