CROSS RIVER POLICE COMMAND GETS NEW PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

The Cross River State Police Command has appointed ASP Sunday Eitokpah Akata as its new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), following approval by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed by the outgoing Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Irene Ugbo, ANIPR, in a statement made available to newsmen.

ASP Akata, an indigene of Edo State, was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force in 2022 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police after completing a five-year intensive training programme at the Nigeria Police Academy.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry.

The new Police Public Relations Officer is expected to serve as the official spokesperson of the Command, managing police–media relations, disseminating information to the public and enhancing community engagement in line with the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to transparency and public trust.

Until his appointment, CSP Irene Ugbo served as the Command’s spokesperson and has formally handed over responsibilities to the new PPRO.
