Barely days after terrorists killed over 40 persons in Niger State, armed marauders have again launched fresh attacks in Kwara, Katsina and Kaduna states, kidnapping several victims, including a photojournalist.

In Kwara State, seven persons were abducted during a failed attempt to kidnap the traditional ruler of Adanla community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Oba David Oyerinola, and his wife.

Eyewitnesses said six armed men stormed the monarch’s palace, shouting and asking for the Kabiyesi and the Olori.

However, the traditional ruler was not at home at the time, having travelled to nearby Igbaja town for an engagement.

When the attackers could not find their targets, they reportedly abducted seven people who were seated outside the palace, all members of the same family who had come from Lagos.

During the incident, a young girl who attempted to flee was shot and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Sources disclosed that the kidnappers have since contacted the families of the victims, demanding a ransom of N300m for their release.

Community members say the affected family is unable to raise the demanded amount, have appealed to the Kwara State Government and security agencies to intervene urgently.

Residents of Adanla community have reportedly fled their homes for fear of further attacks, leaving the area largely deserted.

Similar abductions were also reported in parts of Katsina and Kaduna states, as security agencies intensify efforts to rescue the victims and restore calm.
