President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the military, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down, apprehend terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State.

The President also directed security agencies to urgently rescue women and children abducted during the attack.

The directive was issued on Sunday, following the killing of several villagers by armed terrorists, believed to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara States after a United States airstrike on Christmas Eve.

In a statement released by the State House, signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a test of the nation’s resolve against terrorism and criminal violence.

“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions,” the President said.

President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, as well as to the Government and people of Niger State, while expressing deep concern over the abduction of innocent civilians.

He assured residents that the Federal Government has mandated security agencies to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly areas close to forests that have reportedly served as hideouts for criminal elements.

The President also called on Nigerians to remain united, vigilant, warning against divisive rhetoric that could undermine national cohesion and security at a time of national grief.

“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people, confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary, and reclaim peace and security for our communities,” he stated.

The Kasuwan Daji attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents linked to armed groups operating across parts of northern Nigeria, raising renewed concerns over the safety of rural communities and the movement of terrorists across state borders.

Security agencies are yet to release details on casualties and progress made in rescue operations as investigations continue.
