Troops of the Nigerian Army, operating under the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, have raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jagindi Kagom village, Jemaa Local Government Area, Kaduna State, killing one suspect during the operation.
According to a statement posted on the Nigerian Army’s X account by Captain Joshua John, Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, the operation took place on January 2, 2026, under Operation Peace Shield, following credible intelligence on criminal activities in the area.
“During the encounter, one of the suspects was neutralized. He was later identified as Dahiru Adamu Barka, while other members of the criminal gang escaped into the surrounding areas,” the post read.
Military sources added that follow-up operations are ongoing to track the fleeing suspects, prevent further criminal activity in the community.
Major General EF Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander of the Joint Task Force, commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication, reaffirming the military’s commitment to eliminating all forms of criminality within the Joint Operations Area.
“Sector 7 troops are currently tracking the remaining criminal elements to ensure they face the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
The commander also urged residents to continue providing timely, credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing operations.
The Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace assured the public that sustained pressure will be maintained on criminal networks to guarantee the safety and security of law-abiding citizens across Kaduna State and the wider Joint Operations Area.
