Akwa Ibom State Government has announced that the December 2025 Statewide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise will take place on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 7:00a.m. to 10:00a.m., without any restriction of movement.
The announcement was made in a public notice signed by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, released to the public on Friday, December 26, 2025.
According to the notice, residents are encouraged to actively participate in cleaning their homes, streets, markets, drains, public spaces during the exercise, despite the absence of movement restrictions.
The State Government called on community leaders, residents and other stakeholders across Akwa Ibom to take ownership of the sanitation exercise, stressing that collective responsibility is key to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability, urged citizens to sustain Akwa Ibom State’s widely acknowledged reputation as Nigeria’s cleanest state.
The monthly environmental sanitation exercise remains a core component of the state’s environmental management strategy, aimed at promoting public health, preventing disease outbreaks, enhancing the overall quality of life of residents.
