Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant on Communications and Strategy to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has resigned his appointment, effectively ending his role in the Senate President’s media team.
Okolugbo conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated December 22, 2025, addressed to the President of the Senate through his Chief of Staff, Chinedu Akubueze. He cited business and family commitments as the reason for stepping aside.
In the letter, Okolugbo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve at the highest level of the legislative arm of government, describing it as a privilege to work closely with the leadership of the National Assembly.
“I have enjoyed working with the team. I should also point out the privilege of being an adviser to the number three citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stated.
Reflecting on his tenure, Okolugbo said he was pleased to have been part of the media office of the former Akwa Ibom State governor.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve and wish the best to the President of the Senate as he continues to steer the affairs of the National Assembly and the Senate in particular,” he added.
The resignation will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Confirming the development, Akubueze said Senator Akpabio had accepted the resignation and extended his best wishes to Okolugbo, commending his contributions and wishing him success in his future endeavours.
Okolugbo’s exit comes amid ongoing efforts by the Senate leadership to consolidate its communications strategy as the 10th National Assembly advances its legislative agenda.
