Fuji music legend, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), has approached an Ogun State High Court, sitting in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an interim injunction to halt the process of installing a new Awujale of Ijebuland.
In the suit, the musician joined Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, alongside five other respondents, including the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Council, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Secretary of the Local Government, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
K1 De Ultimate, who has declared interest in ascending the vacant Awujale stool, claims lineage from the Jadiara Royal House within the broader Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
However, his claim has been disputed by the ruling house, which insists that he has no ancestral ties to the Fusengbuwa lineage.
In a motion ex parte filed before High Court 2 under Suit No: HC3/238/2025, the applicant cited relevant provisions of the Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024, the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and the court’s inherent powers.

The application, dated December 16, seeks an order, restraining the respondents from taking further steps in the selection process, pending the determination of the substantive suit.
According to the application, the interim injunction is necessary to safeguard the applicant’s interest, prevent actions that could prejudicate the subject matter of the case.
As at the time of filing this report, no hearing date has been fixed by the court.
