Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old armed robbery suspect – Ugochukwu Uzor, during a major offensive operation at Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The arrest, carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, followed a fierce confrontation on Monday, December 8 during which Uzor sustained serious injuries.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the Command’s Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that authorities recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and 11 live ammunition rounds from the suspect.
Uzor confessed to being the leader of multiple criminal gangs, operating across Anambra, neighbouring states.
Ikenga revealed that Uzor admitted to involvement in the abduction and murder of Azuka Justice, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, on December 24, 2024.
“The murder of Hon. Justice shocked the state and drew widespread condemnation,” the statement noted.
The police highlighted that Uzor, known for his violent criminal activities, bears a tattoo with the inscriptions “No Forgiveness, No Mercy”, underscoring his hardened criminal mindset.

Authorities described his arrest as a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crime in the state and said it would aid ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates.
SP Ikenga urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement in combating crime.
In a separate operation, the police also arrested Emmanuel Osuigwe, a suspected member of a proscribed secessionist group, in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
