Akwa Ibom State Government has refuted a report circulating on social media, which claimed that the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, intends to declare a “Biafra Remembrance Day.”
In a statement issued on Friday, 5th December, 2025c the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, described the report as fabricated and devoid of any factual basis.
He urged the public to ignore the post in its entirety.
“Akwa Ibom State remains peaceful, safe, and secure. There have been no agitations from any quarter to warrant such an irresponsible claim. The State continues to be a proud and committed member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the statement read.
The Government emphasized that it has never contemplated, discussed, or endorsed any such declaration.
It warned that individuals or groups spreading false information intended to mislead the public or undermine peace and unity will face appropriate action.
