A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called for unity among political stakeholders supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, urging them to work together towards securing 1.5 million votes in the state during the 2027 presidential election.

Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), appealed in a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday.

He urged party leaders and members of the political coalition supporting Tinubu to set aside personal differences, grievances and competing interests.

The former lawmaker, who represented Obokun State Constituency, said cooperation between the APC and supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke was essential to achieving the coalition’s electoral target.

His remarks followed Adeleke’s appointment as Osun State Coordinator of Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council.

The governor, who belongs to the Accord Party, is working within a cross-party campaign arrangement involving stakeholders from the APC, Accord and the Peoples Democratic Party.

Oyintiloye maintained that political differences should not undermine the coalition’s shared objective.

He urged stakeholders to recognise one another’s contributions and approach the campaign as partners rather than competitors.

According to him, achieving the proposed 1.5 million votes would require a coordinated grassroots mobilisation structure extending from polling units to wards, local government areas and the state level.

He also advocated the involvement of women, youths, traditional institutions, religious leaders, market associations, artisans, farmers and other community organisations.

The former lawmaker stressed that inclusiveness, mutual respect and clearly defined responsibilities would help reduce internal disagreements among coalition members.

His appeal comes as political parties and support groups intensify preparations for the 2027 general election.

On November 7, the Osun State Government announced the composition of 20 subcommittees for the presidential campaign council, bringing together representatives of different political groups.

Oyintiloye was named chairman of the committee responsible for mobilising informal groups and artisans.

The APC chieftain also called on coalition members to support the party’s candidates contesting national and state legislative seats.

He expressed confidence that cooperation among stakeholders would strengthen the campaign’s organisational capacity.

However, the 1.5 million votes being sought remains a political target rather than a projection of the election outcome.

The eventual result will depend on voter participation, political developments and the choices made by the electorate during the presidential election.
