GOVERNOR ENO REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO TOURISM, BLUE ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the tourism and blue economy sectors, pledging continued support for young professionals who promote the state’s image through creativity and innovation.

Governor Eno made the remark while speaking with Government House correspondents after inspecting the set of The Black Book 2 (Old Scores) at Ishiet Beach/Market in Uruan Local Government Area.

He commended the producer and director of the movie, Mr. Editi Effiong, for his talent, vision and creative ingenuity in projecting Akwa Ibom’s tourism potential to a global audience.

“The impression is amazing, seeing that we have one of our own pulling the world down here,” the Governor said. “Akwa Ibom has what it takes to attract global attention. It depends on what you see, someone can see this place and write a negative story, but another person can turn it into a great movie that markets our state to the world.”

Governor Eno urged young Akwa Ibomites to shun divisive tendencies and emulate the determination of successful indigenes who continue to distinguish themselves in various fields.

He assured that his government will collaborate with Effiong and other young creatives to enable them excel.

“We are going to work with him. Editi is a young man I know very well. This is why I encourage our people in the diaspora to partner with us. Come back home, bring the ideas you see out there, and let’s work together,” he added.

The Governor further emphasized that the volume of visitors, talents and high-profile artists who have come into the state as a result of the movie project underscores its positive impact on the economy, noting that Effiong deserves both recognition and support.

Responding, the producer and director, Effiong, expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for creating a conducive environment for tourism and creative enterprise to thrive.

He lauded the Governor’s commitment to infrastructural development especially the provision of good roads and modern facilities, which he said has positioned Akwa Ibom as one of Nigeria’s most attractive film locations.
