The Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University of Education (AUE), Afaha Nsit, Professor Philip Afaha, has unveiled the institution’s official logo, acronym and social media platforms as part of measures to strengthen its corporate identity and promote academic development.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday, October 19, by the university’s Information and Public Relations Unit.
According to the statement, the unveiling forms part of the vice-chancellor’s institutional development agenda, aimed at establishing the university’s identity and positioning it for academic excellence, innovation and quality teacher education.
Explaining the symbolism of the logo, Afaha said the design incorporates blue and orange, with orange reflecting the identity of Akwa Ibom State.
Other elements include books representing knowledge and learning, a graduation cap symbolising academic achievement, and a white scroll positioned at the centre of the design.
The vice-chancellor explained that the university’s official flag combines orange, white and blue, reflecting the institution’s connection to Akwa Ibom State while communicating its educational philosophy and aspirations.

He maintained that the newly introduced symbols represent more than visual identity, describing them as expressions of the university’s commitment to scholarship, wisdom, professionalism and educational advancement.
Following the unveiling, Afaha directed that signage across the university campus and other institution-owned properties be updated to reflect the approved identity.
He also urged staff, students and members of the public to accord the university’s logo, acronym and flag the respect associated with official academic symbols.
In a related development, the university announced the establishment of its official social media platforms to improve communication with students, employees, prospective applicants and the wider public.
The institution identified its Facebook account as AUE Afaha Nsit and its X account as @AUEAfahaNsit.

Afaha encouraged members of the university community to follow the platforms for announcements, institutional updates and information concerning academic programmes, policies and other developments.
The initiative is expected to support communication and public engagement as the university continues efforts to develop its academic and administrative structures.
The unveiling represents another step in the institution’s efforts to establish a recognisable identity within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
