The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, has identified political consensus, peaceful campaigns, continuity in governance, women’s participation and youth development as five major themes from the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
Nwabufo, in a commentary on Wednesday’s inauguration, said the event highlighted the ruling party’s priorities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described political consensus as an important element of national development, arguing that cooperation among political leaders, regardless of party affiliation, could help address Nigeria’s challenges.

The presidential aide referred to remarks attributed to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who spoke about the importance of political cooperation and a shared commitment to the country’s future.
Nwabufo credited Tinubu’s leadership approach and engagement with political stakeholders for what he described as growing cooperation across political divides.
On electoral conduct, he welcomed the call by APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for campaigns centred on policies, achievements and development programmes rather than personal attacks.
Yilwatda urged party members to conduct themselves peacefully and respect voters throughout the electoral process.
Nwabufo also emphasised the importance of maintaining government activities during the campaign period.
He said the administration intended to continue implementing its programmes and delivering public services while participating in political activities ahead of the election.
According to him, electioneering should not prevent elected officials from fulfilling their responsibilities to citizens.
Addressing women’s participation, the presidential aide highlighted the involvement of women in political mobilisation, public administration and economic development.
He cited the appointment of women to ministerial and other government positions, alongside initiatives such as the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up and the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Nwabufo said Tinubu had also expressed support for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill, which seeks to increase women’s representation in legislative institutions.

He maintained that greater participation by women in political decision-making would strengthen democratic representation.
On youth development, Nwabufo said young Nigerians remained central to the country’s long-term economic and political future.
He noted that speakers at the inauguration, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, discussed government reforms and their expected implications for younger generations.
The presidential aide presented the five themes as priorities for the APC’s campaign and the administration’s continued engagement with Nigerians.
His assessment reflects the position of the presidency and the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
