Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has presented 25 Toyota Hilux patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen security operations and improve the response to criminal activities across the state.
The vehicles were handed over to the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, on Monday at Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Moshood Agboola, the donation is the first phase of a planned distribution of approximately 100 operational vehicles to security agencies in the state.
Speaking during the presentation, AbdulRazaq said the intervention was designed to improve police mobility and sustain the progress recorded in security operations.
The governor commended security personnel for their efforts and assured them of continued government support through the provision of operational equipment and logistics.
He explained that additional vehicles would be distributed to other security agencies in subsequent phases.

AbdulRazaq urged the police command to maintain the vehicles properly and deploy them effectively, particularly in communities requiring improved security coverage.
He also appealed to residents to support security operations by reporting suspicious activities and providing credible information to law enforcement agencies.
The governor described intelligence gathering and cooperation between residents and security personnel as essential to preventing crime and responding promptly to emerging threats.
He further described Kwara as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states, attributing what he considered improvements in security to the activities of law enforcement agencies.
Receiving the vehicles, Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi expressed appreciation to the state government for its continued assistance to the command.
Adekimi said the additional patrol vehicles would help address mobility challenges, especially in rural communities and other locations that are difficult to access.
He also acknowledged the government’s provision of special allowances to officers assigned to security operations.
The police commissioner assured the governor that the vehicles would be deployed responsibly to improve patrol coverage and operational effectiveness.
He pledged that the command would intensify its efforts to maintain public safety and respond to security challenges across the state.
The donation forms part of a series of interventions by the AbdulRazaq administration to support security agencies.

In 2020, the state government provided operational vehicles to security agencies under Operation Harmony, a multi-agency security initiative.
In June 2021, the administration supplied 20 patrol vehicles and protective equipment to security personnel, while another 10 vehicles were donated to the Operation Harmony Tactical Team in November 2022.
The government also presented 32 patrol vehicles and 160 motorcycles in August 2023 to improve security coverage across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The latest intervention is expected to support police patrols, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities, as the state government continues its phased distribution of operational vehicles to security agencies.
