Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued five abducted persons, including a mother and her infant, during an operation in Katsina State.
The Nigerian Army said the rescue followed intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists around Madaci Forest in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
According to the military, troops moved to intercept the suspects, disrupting their movement and creating an opportunity to rescue the abducted victims.

Those rescued included a mother and her infant, alongside three other persons who had reportedly been abducted from communities in Danja and Funtua Local Government Areas.
The Army said the rescued victims were handed over to the Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, Abubakar Musa, to facilitate their reunification with their families.
It said the operation was part of continuing efforts by security forces to disrupt armed groups and protect communities across the North-West.
In a separate operation in neighbouring Sokoto State, troops of the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion repelled an attack in Badiya Village, Shagari Local Government Area.
The Army said troops responded after receiving intelligence about suspicious movements in the area and engaged the attackers, forcing them to withdraw.
According to the military, the fleeing attackers abandoned a large number of rustled livestock, which were subsequently recovered.

The animals were later returned to their owners through arrangements involving the Shagari Local Government chairman and the district head.
The Army said troops would continue patrols and other security operations across affected communities as part of efforts to restrict the movement of armed groups and improve security in the region.
