The Lagos State Government has commenced a three-day digital marketing training programme for 600 entrepreneurs, traders, artisans and young adults across the state.
The programme, organised through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, is being held from September 28 to 30 at the Women Development Centre in Agege.
The training, themed “From Local Business to Global Market: Leveraging Digital Marketing for Business Growth,” is designed to equip participants with practical skills to promote and expand their businesses through digital platforms.
Speaking at the programme on Tuesday, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Bolaji Cecilia Dada said digital marketing had transformed how businesses connect with customers and promote their products and services.
Dada said smartphones and online platforms now provide entrepreneurs with opportunities to reach customers beyond their immediate communities.
She urged participants to take advantage of the training and apply the skills acquired to improve their businesses.

The commissioner announced that participants would receive Android phones on the final day of the programme to support their digital marketing activities. Transportation stipends would also be provided for the first two days of the training.
The programme is being facilitated by Liquid Luck Consulting, with participants receiving practical instruction on competitor analysis, WhatsApp Business, business catalogue creation, professional customer engagement, financial management and online security.
Facilitators Folu Abisayo and Chisom Kelvin also trained participants on identifying fake payment alerts and fraudulent messages and maintaining a clear separation between personal and business finances.
The programme also featured sensitisation sessions on domestic violence, vocational skills and healthy nutrition.
Participants were introduced to the ministry’s 19 skills acquisition centres and provided with information on registration procedures and available vocational programmes.
One of the beneficiaries, Adigwe Jerry, said the training had improved his understanding of digital marketing and could help him expand his business.
Another participant, Taiwo Halimat Shadia from Alimosho Local Government Area, said she had already gained two new followers for her business through one of the digital platforms introduced during the programme.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired and use digital platforms to expand their customer base and improve their income-generating activities.
She also commended the officials, facilitators and partners involved in delivering the programme.
