Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against the club over alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations, with sanctions yet to be determined.
Reports on Friday said an independent commission upheld all but one of the charges following the long-running case concerning the club’s finances. Manchester City are expected to appeal the decision.
The reported verdict represents a major development in a case that has remained unresolved since the Premier League announced the charges in February 2023.
The allegations cover financial matters between 2009 and 2018 and include claims relating to the provision of accurate financial information and compliance with Premier League financial rules.
Manchester City have consistently denied wrongdoing.
Responding to the latest reports, the club said the disciplinary process had not concluded and remained subject to confidentiality.
“The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality,” a Manchester City spokesperson said.
The club maintained that its position remained consistent with its February 2023 statement and said it had respected due process throughout the proceedings.
No punishment has yet been announced. Reports said possible sanctions remain under consideration, while City are expected to challenge the findings through the available appeals process.
The case stems from allegations concerning Manchester City’s financial reporting during a period in which the club emerged as one of English football’s dominant teams.
City have won multiple domestic titles and their first UEFA Champions League since the period covered by the allegations.
