Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has called on Israeli authorities to protect civilians and clearly marked humanitarian and medical vehicles amid continued deadly attacks in the Gaza Strip.
The medical charity said Israeli air strikes were continuing across Gaza, with Palestinians being killed and injured daily.
In a statement, MSF said the attacks demonstrated that civilians could not consider any part of Gaza safe.
The organisation said its medical teams treated 11 people, including five children, who were wounded in attacks between September 15 and 16.
During the preceding week, MSF said it had also provided treatment to 22 people suffering from shrapnel wounds and other injuries caused by explosions.
The charity said one of its staff members was injured on September 13 when a clearly identified MSF humanitarian bus carrying 10 employees was damaged after a nearby vehicle was hit.
According to MSF, the incident formed part of what it described as a continuing pattern in which humanitarian and medical workers and their vehicles are exposed to attacks.
The organisation accused Israeli forces of showing disregard for the safety of humanitarian personnel and called for greater protection for aid workers operating in Gaza.
“Clearly marked medical and humanitarian vehicles must be spared from attacks,” MSF said.
The charity reiterated that civilians, medical personnel and humanitarian workers must be protected under international humanitarian law as fighting continues in the territory.
