Nigerian troops have reportedly killed a suspected terrorist during a security operation in Ungwan Nungu village, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation was said to have been conducted by troops of Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71, Sanga, at about 8 p.m. on Friday following intelligence on the activities of suspected terrorists in the area.
Security reports indicated that troops moved into the community and encountered the suspects, leading to an exchange of fire.
One suspected member of the group, identified as Bashir Mohammed, was reported killed during the encounter, while others fled the area.
Some of the fleeing suspects were believed to have sustained injuries during the confrontation, although their condition and whereabouts had not been independently established.
Troops subsequently began efforts to locate the fleeing suspects and prevent the group from regrouping.
Security operations were also reported to be continuing around Sanga and neighbouring communities as authorities seek to prevent further attacks.
The Nigerian Army had not issued an official statement independently confirming the reported operation, the identity of the deceased or other details of the encounter as of the time of filing this report.
