Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels are advancing along the Red Sea coast, raising concerns over the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a key global trade route.
The development comes amid escalating hostilities in the region, with the Houthis claiming that Saudi Arabia launched about 40 air strikes following attacks on oil facilities and civilian infrastructure inside the kingdom.
Meanwhile, several explosions were reported in Iran’s southern Sirik district after projectiles struck parts of the coastal area.
Oil prices have remained around $100 per barrel as the conflict continues, with fears that further escalation could disrupt energy supplies and international shipping.
US President Donald Trump has predicted that the war with Iran will end shortly after the November midterm elections, saying oil prices would subsequently fall rapidly.
