The Federal Government has called on Nigerians to support Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss World competition, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, popularly known as Soye, as she advances toward the grand finale.

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Hannatu Musawa, praised Karibi-George for her performance at the ongoing pageant in Vietnam and urged Nigerians to support her through the voting process.

Karibi-George recently emerged as Africa’s Top Model and secured a place among the Top 40 contestants in the global competition.

The Miss World 2026 finale is scheduled to take place on September 5.

In a post on X, Musawa described Karibi-George’s performance as a source of pride for Nigeria, noting that she had represented the country with confidence and purpose on the international stage.

The minister also commended the contestant for using the global platform to promote Nigeria, draw attention to important issues and inspire young people.

She urged Nigerians to continue voting for Karibi-George, stressing that every vote could contribute to her progress in the competition.

“Soye needs every vote, and every point matters for the stages ahead,” Musawa said, while encouraging Nigerians to vote, share the voting information and mobilise others to support the contestant.

Karibi-George was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 on June 5 after defeating 36 other contestants at the national pageant.

Her performance in the ongoing competition has renewed hopes that Nigeria could secure another Miss World crown, following Agbani Darego’s historic victory in 2001.

Darego remains the first and only Nigerian to win the Miss World title.
