Kenyan police have arrested three Nigerian nationals for allegedly residing in the country illegally and engaging in cyber-related crimes.

The suspects Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwel were apprehended during a joint security operation at Mwaliko Estate in Mwea town, following reports of suspicious activities in their apartment.

According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday via its official X handle, the operation was launched after residents raised concerns about suspicious movements and late-night activities at the premises occupied by the suspects.

During the raid, detectives recovered 21 mobile phones, 79 SIM cards, a Dell laptop, and several credit cards from different banks items believed to be tools used in cyber fraud operations.

The well-coordinated multi-agency raid exposed a suspected cyber fraud ring operated by the three Nigerian nationals, the DCI said. When officers stormed the apartment, they found a variety of electronic devices and financial cards, all pointing to a well-organized fraud network.

Further investigations revealed that the suspects had overstayed their entry permits and lacked valid work documents to justify their continued stay in Kenya.

The three men are currently in police custody as detectives pursue leads on possible connections to cross-border cybercrime syndicates.
