Manchester United have made a late attempt to strengthen their defence by approaching Barcelona over a potential move for left-back Alejandro Balde, as the club continues its transfer deadline day activity.
Reports from Spanish journalist Gerard Romero’s Jijantes FC indicate that the Red Devils have renewed their interest in the highly-rated defender and submitted a fresh approach in an effort to complete a deal before the transfer window closes.
The move comes after Manchester United invested heavily in rebuilding their midfield department this summer, with the club reportedly committing around £150 million to reshape that area of the squad.
Balde, regarded as one of Barcelona’s key young defensive talents, has attracted interest from several top clubs due to his pace, attacking ability and defensive versatility.

Manchester United are believed to be seeking additional defensive options as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
With the transfer deadline approaching, negotiations are expected to move quickly as the Premier League side attempts to reach an agreement with Barcelona before the window shuts.
