American singer Lionel Richie has been hospitalised in an intensive care unit in St. Louis after performing at a concert over the weekend, according to reports.
The 77-year-old music icon checked himself into a local hospital after his Saturday night performance at The Muny in Forest Park to undergo medical tests. Doctors are reportedly investigating possible dehydration.
Witnesses said Richie appeared to struggle towards the end of the performance and requested a chair while singing his final song, “All Night Long,” so he could complete the show while seated.
The hospitalisation comes months after Richie experienced a similar health scare during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he felt dizzy and had to end the performance early.
Reports said Richie is being monitored as a precaution, with sources indicating he hopes to be discharged soon.
