Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 16 civilians and foiled separate abduction attempts by terrorists in Zamfara State.
The military also repelled a terrorist attack on a community in Sokoto State during operations conducted on August 28.
In Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops of Sector Two responded to a distress call over an attempted terrorist attack on a community.
The terrorists were said to have attempted to abduct residents but fled following the swift intervention of the troops, who rescued four civilians and subsequently secured the area.
In another operation at Kwanoni Village in Tsafe Local Government Area, troops engaged terrorists who were attempting to abduct passengers travelling in two vehicles.
The troops reportedly overpowered the attackers in a firefight, forcing them to withdraw and abandon their victims.
All 12 passengers were rescued, with no casualty recorded among the troops.
Meanwhile, troops also repelled a terrorist attack around Jabo Village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The terrorists withdrew after troops engaged them with what the military described as superior firepower.
Two civilians who sustained gunshot injuries during the attack were evacuated for medical treatment.
The military says troops have continued to dominate the affected areas to deny the terrorists freedom of action.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, says the operations demonstrate the determination of troops to protect lives and frustrate terrorist activities across the North-West.
