Nigerian nurses have honoured Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, with multiple awards for his commitment to healthcare development and support for nursing professionals in the state.
The nurses described Governor Eno as a “Nurse-Friendly Governor,” commending his administration’s investments in the health sector and efforts to improve the welfare of healthcare workers.
The delegation, led by the Body of Heads of Nursing Services Departments and Principals of Schools in Federal Health Institutions, BONAPHI/BOHNAPSFHI, included its National Chairman, Mrs Jenny Church, and the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr Alhassan Ndagi.
The delegation was in Akwa Ibom for its national event and commended the state government for what it described as deliberate efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery.
The awards were presented to Governor Eno at the Banquet Hall during the official launch of the ARISE Agenda 2.0, where the nursing delegation joined other stakeholders to celebrate the state’s development initiatives.
Receiving the awards, Governor Eno thanked the nurses for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement for his administration to do more in transforming the health sector.
The Governor also commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ekem Emmanuel John, and other members of his team for their contributions to the achievements recorded in the sector.
Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the people of Akwa Ibom with accessible, quality and efficient healthcare services while improving the working conditions of healthcare professionals.
