The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The FCT Administration announced the directive in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, Wike directed that the secretariat of the dissolved committee be closed following the completion of its assigned responsibilities.

It said the minister had also approved the creation of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to oversee matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The newly created division will assume the responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved ad-hoc committee.

The FCT Administration explained that the committee’s secretariat had remained operational after the completion of its assignments to address issues arising from its activities.

“With the formal closure of the secretariat, the general public is enjoined to henceforth approach the Department of Land Administration on all issues relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT,” the statement said.

The administration also warned members of the public against fraudsters who may continue to present themselves as officials, staff or members of the defunct committee and its secretariat.

It stressed that the committee and its secretariat no longer exist and advised members of the public to deal only with the appropriate department for transactions and enquiries concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in Abuja.
