The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Katsina State is facing a fresh internal crisis following the exit of two prominent governorship aspirants.
Former Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, resigned from the party on Sunday and returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, alongside thousands of his supporters.
Inuwa, who contested the ADC governorship primary, rejected the emergence of Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita as the party’s candidate.
On the same day, former Director-General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Musa Daura, also resigned from the ADC and joined the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
Daura, who equally contested the ADC governorship ticket, had faulted the process that produced Kaita as the party’s candidate.
The two exits are expected to reshape the political landscape in Katsina ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Inuwa’s return seen as a potential boost to the APC, while Daura’s move could strengthen the APM’s campaign in the state.
