Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the temporary closure of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort from August 22, 2026, to facilitate comprehensive renovation and repositioning of the facility.

The government said the move is aimed at upgrading the hotel, improving service delivery and strengthening the commercial performance of the State’s hospitality assets after more than 18 years of operation without major transformation.

Under the new arrangement, ALEPH Hospitality, an international hospitality management company, will assume management of Ibom Hospitality Limited from August 22.

The government said the transition is designed to introduce global hospitality standards, professional management and improved operational efficiency.

It also assured employees that no staff member will be laid off solely because of the transition, although workers who voluntarily decline the new arrangement or do not meet required skill standards may be affected. Government said opportunities would be explored for staff within the State’s hospitality ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Ibom Hotels Golf Course will remain open to golfers and visitors throughout the hotel renovation period.

The State Government said the rehabilitation forms part of its broader plan to build a competitive hospitality industry capable of attracting investment, creating jobs and strengthening Akwa Ibom’s position as a leading tourism and business destination.
