The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Edo/Delta Area Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with sister security agencies to improve staff welfare and public service delivery.
The commitment was expressed on Friday, July 31, 2026, when representatives of the Nigerian Navy Hospital, Warri, visited the Command Headquarters in Warri to deepen the existing relationship between both institutions and introduce the hospital’s medical services to Customs officers and their families.
Leading the delegation, Lt. Cdr. Olusegun Olajide, representing the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Hospital, said the visit was aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and ensuring Customs personnel have access to quality healthcare.
Receiving the team, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Judith Kanu, described the Nigerian Navy as a critical partner in securing Nigeria’s waterways, combating smuggling and protecting the nation’s economic interests.
She stressed that stronger cooperation among security agencies remains vital to national security and effective trade facilitation.
“When our officers are healthy, and our agencies work together, we are better able to protect our borders, support legal trade, and protect the country’s economy. In the end, Nigerians benefit because stronger institutions mean better service and a safer country,” Kanu said.
Olajide said the Nigerian Navy Hospital provides a wide range of specialised and general medical services, including eye care, laboratory investigations, MRI and CT scans, maternity services and dental care.
Also speaking, Lt. Cdr. Joel Gana highlighted other services available at the facility, including emergency and accident care, orthopaedic treatment, mental health services, women’s healthcare, family planning, surgery, gastrointestinal emergency care and routine medical examinations.
He noted that quality healthcare is essential to keeping security personnel physically and mentally fit for demanding duties.
In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Comptroller of Customs in charge of Administration, Deputy Comptroller Idakeipiriye Omiete, appreciated the delegation for the visit and commended the Nigerian Navy Hospital for its commitment to staff welfare.
He said the collaboration would not only improve healthcare access for Customs personnel and their families but also strengthen the longstanding partnership between both institutions.
