Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, says the Presidency cannot clear itself of allegations surrounding the fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC, scandal.
In a statement by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the interim report of the ICPC should not be treated as proof of the government’s innocence.
He said the report reportedly identified negligence and possible connivance by public officials that allowed the alleged fake agency to operate within government offices.
Atiku demanded the publication of the full ICPC report and the identities of officials allegedly involved.
He also called on the National Assembly to conduct a transparent, live-broadcast investigation, especially after the alleged mastermind, identified as Adeyemi, reportedly offered to testify.
Atiku warned that anything short of an open investigation could fuel suspicion that powerful individuals were being protected.
