The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a peaceful, secure and credible governorship election in the state.
Commissioner Erale gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, at the Commission’s State Headquarters in Osogbo.
The visit followed his assumption of duty after his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police.

During the meeting, the Police Commissioner formally introduced himself to the INEC Chairman and pledged the continued support of the Nigeria Police Force in the discharge of the Commission’s electoral responsibilities.
In his remarks, Professor Amupitan welcomed the new Commissioner to Osun State and expressed confidence in the existing collaboration between INEC and the Police in ensuring peaceful, transparent and credible elections.
He stressed the importance of sustained inter-agency cooperation ahead of the August 15 Osun State Governorship Election.
Commissioner Erale’s deployment followed the redeployment of the immediate past Commissioner of Police by the Inspector-General of Police as part of preparations for the forthcoming governorship poll.
