The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reminded eligible Nigerians that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will officially end on Sunday, July 26, 2026, urging prospective voters to complete their registration before the deadline.
In a public advisory shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, the electoral umpire stressed that there would be no extension of the exercise, encouraging citizens yet to register to make use of the remaining time to secure their place on the national voters’ register.
According to the commission, eligible Nigerians can complete the registration process entirely online through its dedicated CVR portal or visit any of its registration centres across the country for physical assistance.
“Your future won’t wait. Neither should you. The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends Sunday, 26 July 2026,” INEC stated in the notice.
The commission explained that individuals who encounter difficulties with the online registration process, or those who prefer physical registration, can visit any INEC state office, local government area office, or designated registration centre to complete the exercise.
INEC also announced that all registration centres nationwide will continue to operate daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. until the registration window closes on Sunday.
Reaffirming its commitment to ensuring broad participation in the electoral process, the commission noted that the online registration platform allows applicants to complete the process from start to finish without necessarily visiting a registration centre, provided all requirements are met.
The CVR exercise forms a critical part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, providing an opportunity for Nigerians who have attained voting age to register, while enabling existing voters to update or transfer their registration details where necessary.
The electoral body has consistently encouraged citizens to take advantage of the exercise to avoid last-minute congestion and ensure they are eligible to participate in future elections.
With the registration deadline now only hours away, INEC has urged all eligible Nigerians who are yet to register or update their voter information to act promptly, emphasising that participation in elections begins with being properly registered as a voter.
