The Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, has convicted and sentenced 10 persons for offences bordering on the mutilation and abuse of the Nigerian currency.
The convictions were secured by the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice F. A. Olubanjo on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The EFCC said the convictions underscore its continued enforcement of laws prohibiting the abuse and mutilation of the naira, warning that offenders would continue to face prosecution in line with the provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act and other relevant laws.
The anti-graft agency reiterated its commitment to preserving the integrity of the nation’s currency through sustained public enlightenment and diligent prosecution of offenders.
